Denture Relines

RELINES FOR DENTURES in XYZ

An elderly patient’s dentures are examined by a doctor. Because it has been made precisely for your gums, new dentures usually fit your mouth exceptionally secured. Your gum tissues will alter over time, causing the denture to loosen and slide around inside your mouth. The denture will remain stable and functioning if it is professionally relined every one to two years.

Relining of Hard Dentures

A firm reline is recommended every two years for all complete dentures. XYZ removes a layer of plastic from the inside of the denture before filling it with a putty-like material that adapts to the contours of your mouth to create an exact impression. The denture is shipped to a lab to be fitted to your new gum tissue shape. As a result, your denture and your mouth are in constant contact.

Relining Soft Dentures

Because of tender gums or sore places, some patients are unable to wear traditional dentures. Relining the denture with a material that stays pliable for one to two years before needing replacement may be recommended by XYZ. This material is considerably less prone than regular hard reline acrylic to cause uncomfortable places in the patient. Patients with these issues may want to consider implant-retained dentures as a more permanent treatment.

Temporary Relines

A patient’s gums may be red, puffy, or deformed if their dentures have not been serviced in a long time. This makes it challenging to take impressions for a new hard or soft reline, resulting in a denture that exacerbates the problem.

A temporary or palliative (medicated) reline material may be suggested to let the irritation subside. This reline tightens the fit of the denture and is often soft and malleable. The gums recover to their original form after a few weeks. The patient is now ready to receive his new denture or have his hard relined.
