PRESENTATION OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

To help you understand dental implants better, we’ve included the following multimedia presentation. Numerous frequently asked issues about dental implants are addressed.

What are dental implants and how do they work?

A root and a crown make up a natural tooth. Natural teeth and implant-supported replacement teeth have the same essential components. A crown is worn by both (the visible part used to chew food). Both have a root that is attached to the jaw and secures the tooth beneath the gum. The difference is that the implant is made of titanium, the same tried-and-true material that surgeons use to create prosthetic joints. A tooth’s root and crown are both lost when it is extracted. The root of the tooth is replaced with a tiny dental implant before the tooth is replaced.

The bone around the dental implant is given time to mend and grow. The titanium attaches to the bone, forming a stable basis for artificial teeth. An abutment subsequently supports the implant, and a new replacement tooth (crown) is affixed to the abutment. In many circumstances, a temporary replacement tooth can be connected to the implant right away. If you are missing all of your teeth, you can choose from several treatment methods to support the replacement teeth.

Surgical breakthroughs

XYZ can insert single-stage implants thanks to recent advancements in dental implant technology. These implants do not require a second treatment to reveal them, but they need to recover for at least six weeks before implanting prosthetic teeth. In some cases, the implant can be placed simultaneously as the tooth extraction, reducing the number of surgical procedures required.

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a restorative dentist work together to insert dental implants. The actual implant operation, initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting, if necessary, are all handled by XYZ. The permanent prosthesis is fitted and made by a restorative dentist (your dentist). During the implant process, your dentist will also create any temporary prosthesis that is required.
