DENTAL FILLINGS IN XYZ
Your cavities can be treated at XYZ.
Our practice is mercury-free. Many people, however, still have old silver/mercury fillings in their teeth. These fillings are unsightly, and we know that, by necessity, silver/mercury fillings weaken tooth structure. Porcelain inlays and Tooth Colored Restorations (onlays) are fillings that are attractive (or invisible) and strengthen weak teeth. Thanks to modern bonding technology, these restorations are both attractive and durable.
Brushing your teeth in the proper way
Silver fillings have many drawbacks. The silver filling’s edges can wear down, weaken, or break. As a result, the tooth is no longer protected, allowing cavities to resurface. A silver filling’s metal expands, compresses, and splits as it ages.
Silver amalgam fillings contain 50% mercury. They have the potential to corrode, leak, and discolor your teeth and gums.
Silver fillings, fortunately, can be securely replaced with Tooth-Colored Restorations.
The Benefits of Tooth-Colored Restoration
Tooth-colored restorations have a number of advantages. Onlays made of resin are glued to the teeth, forming a snug, superior fit with the native tooth. These restorations may be employed in cases where a significant portion of the tooth structure has been lost. The tooth retains its integrity and becomes stronger as a result.
Due to the fluoride content of the resin used in tooth-colored restorations, this can help prevent decay. The resin wears just like natural teeth and does not require gum line implantation, which is better for your gums!
The end effect is a stunning smile!
Using a tooth-colored restoration to replace silver fillings
Silver fillings can be replaced with tooth-colored restorations (onlays). This procedure requires two visits in the office.
On your initial consultation:
- Any remaining deterioration is removed together with the previous infill.
- Your teeth are taken in an imprint. Your dentist creates a model of your teeth and sends it to the laboratory for analysis.
- The tooth is covered with a temporary onlay.
At the laboratory, a resin model of your teeth is meticulously placed. It is then styled to appear natural.
On your follow-up consultation:
- Removing of the temporary onlay.
- To prepare the tooth for the new onlay, a conditioning gel is applied.
- A bonding cement is applied to the tooth, and a high-intensity laser is used to cure the resin.
- After that, the tooth is polished.
- Your teeth will be back to their original appearance and feel, they will be strengthened, and the tooth will be preserved!
